Amak316 Wins FTOPS X Two-Day Event

by Emma 17. November 2008 21:01

Amit “amak316” Makhija is the winner of the Tenth Full Tilt Online Poker Series emerging victorious from the $5,200 buy-in Two-Day tournament and took home a healthy $550,000 payday. The event drew exactly 500 entrants, paying out $2.5 million to the top 54 spots. Some of the world’s top pros braved the felts for the Full Tilt online poker tournament, which played out over the course of Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday, Makhija nearly matched his WPT payday by outlasting the 500 person field in the Two-Day Event. The tournament was played six-handed and the final table panned out as follows:

1st Place: amak316, $550,000
2nd Place: KaKeTKa, $362,500
3rd Place: PureCash25, $262,500
4th Place: Buster Love, $195,000
5th Place: NEONPILS99, $137,500
6th Place: dpowell, $90,000

Makhija has made the transition from the online poker world to the live arena fairly effortlessly. He won the $100 rebuy online in March on PokerStars for $46,000, which is often considered to have of the most talented tournament fields. He also took down the $100 cubed on Full Tilt Poker for $19,300. Makhija received a considerable amount of face time on cable station ESPN over the summer by virtue of finishing fifth in Event 1, the $10,000 Pot Limit Hold’em championship. In August, he was the runner up to poker pro John “The Razor” Phan at the World Poker Tour’s Legends of Poker event, pocketing over $560,000.

The tournament was hosted by November Nine member Craig Marquis. The new Full Tilt pro was able to buck the trend and cash in his own tournament, finishing in 24th place and earning $17,500, not to mention the $200 bonus in rakeback. Two more red-named pros were able to represent their site proudly, as David "The Dragon" Pham and Brandon Adams both cashed. Adams took it one step further and actually bubbled the final table, busting in seventh place and taking home $57,500.

Other notables that were able to make the money included Casey "bigdogpckt5s" Jarzabek (48th), Justin "Boosted J" Smith (47th), Keith "cheesemonster" Lehr (44th), Matt "NoBadBeatsPlz" Kay (43rd), Dani "Ansky451" Stern (40th), Luke "magikstick8" Vrabel (34th), govshark2 (33rd), Joe "Dyzalot" Morneau (31st), Kyle "kwob20" Bowker (28th), Eugene "myrabbifoo" Katchalov (20th), Hans "miAmihAns" Winzeler (17th), Steve "thorladen" Weinstein (16th), David "Davidp18" Peters (12th), and Kevin "GetPWN3D" Saul (11th)
