Peter Eastgate stepped up from being a Poker Prince to the newly crowned King of Poker after his win in the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event comes great responsibility for Peter Eastgate. As the World Champion, he'll be the top dog in the poker community for the next year, and who better to manage a Poker King than Poker Royalty!
Poker Royalty will act as Eastgate's worldwide management and marketing representation across all major platforms, including media, sponsorship, licensing, commercial endorsements and appearances.
"I believe the team at Poker Royalty is best suited to help me navigate through the duties and opportunities that arise as the reigning World Series of Poker Champion," Eastgate said.
"They represent the biggest names in poker and I'm honored to have them working on my behalf."
Originally from Denmark, Eastgate has been a professional poker player since 2005, when he gave up going to college to play online poker. Much of his career has been spent playing poker online where he specializes in short-handed and heads-up cash games at the $200/$400 level.
Eastgate was rocketed to multimillionaire status when the final table of the 2008 WSOP Main Event finally played out and he found himself in the winner's seat. Phil Hellmuth previously held that title for about 20 years before Eastgate finally topped it. The 22-year-old picked up a $9 million win plus the title of youngest WSOP champion.
"It is a very unique opportunity for us, because he's a very marketable 22 year international player with $9,000,000 in the bank. Peter can afford to be very selective with the endorsement relationships he chooses and align himself with opportunities that suit him perfectly."
"Peter is the epitome of the young, intelligent and fearless online poker professional whose game has translated fantastically to the world of live tournament poker," said Jim Erwood, Poker Royalty director of European operations.
As one of the top Internet pros, Eastgate has already been associated with Ladbrokes Poker and PokerStars. Some of his other forays into the live poker realm have been in events organized by those online poker sites.
In 2006 and 2007, he played in Ladbrokes' Poker Million, though he didn't cash. He also took on the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour a couple times this year and cashed.
It's likely the poker community will be seeing lots more of Eastgate in the upcoming year as he makes the rounds on the poker circuit and serves as the face of the game.
